Rather thick cuts! Just one should do for breakfast (for a large group of people)...

Not sure my boys would agree with you there. They are of the opinion that there's very little that can't be improved by adding bacon.

There seems to be a lot of people that agree with that opinion. ( me included ) Also, I've heard that mentioned in some of the chefs type TV shows/contests. I should check with my son, Rob. Pretty sure he would also agree.

If so, in the US it would be labeled Eastern Red Cedar.

So this appears to be a vegetarian bacon substitute, for those who can't eat the real thing. All that's needed now are some vegan giant eggs.
