Windows 7 and Office 2010.
When I click on a hyperlink to a .pdf file (in Excel, for example), Windows 7 and/or Office 2010 insists on opening it with Adobe Reader, despite my setting the default 'opener' to Foxit PhantomPDF.
Double-clicking on a file in Windows Explorer opens a pdf with Foxit, and I've gone down the Default Programs in Start menu route without success.
Any suggestions please?

What setting do you have in Adobe Reader for "Edit > Preferences... > Internet > Display PDF in browser?

It was selected, and now deselected, but hasn't made any difference after restarting Excel. I'll try a complete re-boot later....StuartR wrote:What setting do you have in Adobe Reader for "Edit > Preferences... > Internet > Display PDF in browser?

I can see the same question being asked without success, but if you could link to an answer it might help!John Gray wrote:I get a lot of hits from Googling for PDF hyperlink in Office opens wrong reader. Maybe one or two may help?

I tend to suffer from RGS* and don't uninstall unless totally necessary - there's bound to be something I can't open without it!HansV wrote:How about uninstalling Adobe Reader?
Anyway, I've now removed Reader X, so I just need to sort out the 'Trustworthy Source' irritation and I'll see how it goes. Thanks!

See if http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925757" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; helps.

Thanks again, but so far, no luck. I tried everything they suggested, but I still get asked.
I don't know which is worse; getting asked each time, or reverting to Adobe and have it insist on opening full screen regardless of what I tell it...
I'll leave it for now, too many other things to worry about.

Re: Default pdf program from hyperlink
So I:
Hyperlinks to pdf's in Excel now open with Foxit, and without question...
- Uninstalled Reader 10 - but then preview in Outlook wouldn't work (despite previewer listed as Foxit)
Reinstalled Reader 10 - same problems
Uninstalled Reader 10 - installed Reader 9 - same problems
Read every link and suggestion on the internet I could find
Decided that Adobe's reluctance to remember window size was a permission problem, so set AcroRd32.exe Privilege Level to 'Run as Administrator'
Hyperlinks to pdf's in Excel now open with Foxit, and without question...
