I frequently receive bulk e-mail messages from an unknown source. I have the option of opening them, then going to the end of the message and clicking an Unsubscribe link. I have been loathe to do this as I see it as an opportunity for a hacker to entice me into a hostile site. Am I being paranoid?
All input is welcome.

Re: Unsubscribing
You should never respond to those sorts of emails. When you do you tell the sender that yours is a valid email address.
Any discussion of paranoia should probably be in Scuttlebutt.

If it's in HTML and has a tracking graphic in it, the sender will know it's been received and opened regardlessJoeP wrote:When you do you tell the sender that yours is a valid email address.

Unless you have configured your email client to only display images from trusted addresses.Leif wrote:If it's in HTML and has a tracking graphic in it, the sender will know it's been received and opened regardlessJoeP wrote:When you do you tell the sender that yours is a valid email address.
