Dotty the dog and I went for a walk along the sea wall looking out across the Thames estuary towards Shoeburyness in the spring sunshine. Then a big black cloud appeared so we decided to turn round and go home.
Whenever I see Shoeburyness I want to sing Ian Dury songs!

Re: Shoeburyness
Shoeburyness sounds like some kind of title: today, I met His Shoeburyness...
Best wishes,
Hans

Violet thunderstorms were predicted for the afternoon ...
@Hans: if you don't want the segue between "dotty" and "pixels", may I have the use of it?
Cheers, Chris

Re: Shoeburyness
Irfanview did it! In the real world the clouds were really impressive and the motivation for the picture! The foreground was just me trying to be arty!
Here's a crop of the cloud:
Or an adjective, 'Ian Dury exuded shoeburyness'

I don't get it, Dotty is a Havenese, pixels are mythical creatures. Oh no, that's pixies!
Perhaps the sky really did look like that? Oh no, the flashbacks have come back again!

Re: Shoeburyness
I suspect it was more the amount of JPEG compression you had to use to get the file down to The Lounge upload limit rather than Irfanview the application being to blame, i.e. using the same (large) amount of JPEG compression in another application would give a similar end result.
As I've mentioned several times before, to use Irfanview to get files down to the 256 KB upload limit you need to use the 'Save for web' option, which invokes the RIOT plugin, but that option is only available in old versions of Irfanview (v4.57 and earlier). If you don't want to roll back Irfanview to v5.47 or earlier than you should use RIOT as a standalone application.
Alternatively, if you have Affinity Photo then the settings for JPEG within it's File | Export feature will work.

Re: Shoeburyness
The alternative definition of "Shoeburyness" given in The Meaning of Liff by the truly wonderful Douglas Adams and the equally wonderful John Lloyd, Shoeburyness is defined as
"The vague uncomfortable feeling you get when sitting on a seat that is still warm from somebody else's bottom".
No further comment.
Sorry to highjack your thread, Graeme.

I suspect it was too.
I have seen your Riot plugin posts but the compression isn't a problem most of the time. I feel some experimentation coming on!

Hi Silverback,
If I have understood the gist of it, this is more of a low-jack than a Hi-jack.
Cheers, Chris
