App to Download YouTube Videos

Post by BobH »

Can anyone recommend a good app - preferably free - that will download videos from YouTube?

I have VLC and have used it with mixed success. The process is a bit involved and results unpredictable; so I'm looking for a more reliable solution.

 :chocciebar: :thankyou:

I use TubeMate on my android phones.

I see that there is a Windows-based equivalent, but I haven't tried it.
Cheers, Chris

Many years ago I used:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefo ... t=featured

I can't remember why I used it though

It appears to be highly rated and have a high number of users but I've no idea if that means it actually does the job.

I tried a few some time ago, including Any Video Converter. I stayed with that Any Video Converter as it has mostly worked well, and more recently I was using it sucessfully still, after downloading it a fresh on a few new win10 computers and one win 11 computer

Thank you one and all!

I have lots of grist for my mill. FWIW, I'm still having trouble using VLC getting an error saying it can't read a file or can't parse the html I feed it.

I'll give these suggestions a trial and report back.

With Any Video Converter, I occaisionally have a problem when a video won't download. Could be something screwy with the video.
If there is a particular You Tube Video you are having problems with and want to tell me what one then I can chuck it in the Any Video Converter of a spare pc I have laying around and see if it works.
