I am using Office 365. In some Word documents, I am able to edit comments directly; in others, I have to click on the three horizontal dots on the upper right of the comment, select Edit comment, and then enter my edits.
Is there a way to configure Word so that I don’t have to click on the three dots and select Edit comment? I want to make life easier and simply click in the comment to edit it.

I have been using Office 365 and have never seen any 3 dots in MS Word.
Post a screen showing these 3 dots in MS Word?

Re: Editing comments in Word
StuartR and I are using the desktop version of Word. In that version, you can edit comments directly.
Your screenshot looks like it was made in Word Online. It works differently there. You do have to click the three dots and select Edit Comment.

Re: Editing comments in Word
I am using a desktop version of Word. It is through Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise. I think it is Word 2019, but I'm not sure.
Under File | Accounts | About Word, it states the following:
- Version 2111 (Build 14701.20262 Click to Run)
I believe that with Microsoft 365, there is no one static version of MS Office products that are installed. They are constantly updated as new versions come out.

Re: Editing comments in Word
@JMT Yours is the equivalent code of Office 2021 with a few extras. You are correct that it is constantly changing. You have the build same version I do.
I have not seen the three dots, but seldom use comments.
Are you using Windows 11?
Have you told MS that you want to see the "new experience?"
