Historically, pressing f9 in Word used to update my ToCs. Now, however, it does nothing. Nor does right alt + f9. Left alt + f9 causes my hidden field codes to be displayed, which is not what I want to achieve. fn + f9 mutes my volume.
In Outlook, f9 used to trigger Send/Receive mail. Now it does nothing. However, right alt + f9 has addressed the issue (but in Outlook only).
How can I restore the functionality of f9 in Word and Outlook?

In Word, select File > Options,
Select Customize Ribbon.
Click the Customize... button next to Keyboard shortcuts, near the bottom.
Scroll down the list of Categories and select All Commands.
Scroll down the list of Commands and select UpdateFields.
When I do this, I see the following:

Re: F9 no longer working
I usually select the TOC before using F9; Most of the time I use Ctrl-A to Select All the document, and then tap the F9 key. I figure I may as well get everything updated while I'm at it.
Cheers
