Win XP, SP3 Dell Desktop for which I'm responsible:
Lately, the view in Windows Explorer does not refresh automatically. I need to press F5, or click View | Refresh. I've read that this is a known issue for Shared Folders under Win XP. I've also seen several registry hacks, such as:
http://alvear.com/2007/05/19/windows-xp ... t-refresh/
http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/micros ... hares.html (I know this is a Vista site but see post by Bob, dated 1/11/2008, for XP registry hack)
Before I attempt either of these fixes, does anyone have another solution?
Thanks, in advance.

You might also try Troubleshooting Windows XP, Tweaks and Fixes for Windows XP, #157 on the left hand side, Enable, and also #199 on the left hand side.

Re: Windows Explorer View Needs Refresh
Thanks, Hans.
I just rebooted the machine, without having applied any fixes, and all is working as expected. I probably should have done that before posting.
I'll bookmark this thread . . . just in case!
Thanks.
