Acer nitro 5 gaming laptop
Hi all i bought a acer nitro 5 gaming laptop and recently i have installed a ssd to it, everything looks fine in the beginning but in the time i could notice a little coil whining from the ssd , i double checked with the cooling fans but i'm pretty sure its coming from ssd. i need to know whether this kind of behaviour is normal or not because i have 2 years of warranty for the ssd.

It is not normal. I have never noticed any discernable sound from solid state disk drives.

Welcome to Eileen's Lounge!
An SSD does not have a fan since it doesn't get hot. So I don't think the sound comes from the SSD.

It could come from the logic circuit in the SSD, if there is a faulty component

I'd request a replacement under warranty right away. If necessary, I'd purchase a new SSD (after being assured that the one you have is going to be credited under warranty) to install so that you can continue to use the old one until the new one arrives.

Could also be a weak component on the motherboard (acting when adding/changing other devices such as graphic cards etc. although this is a laptop.). A SSD certainly doesn't draw much power, but could perhaps have faulty components as well. It would of course be very good if you had more than one SSD to test with. But there are some reports about coil whine with that one (Acer) on the net, and other of course.

Done any tests? Running on battery; with charger; changed performance settings in Windows? Testing the old HDD again?
