I have searched and read many replies on this and I think I am doing everything right but I just cannot get the slide numbers to appear.
Slide Master
1. Go to Master Layout
2. Select 'Slide Number'
3. Moved # sign to the position required (bottom left)
But when I run the slide show nothing shows
Normal View
Because that didn't work I did the following
1. On slide one on the 'Insert' tab I selected 'Header and Footer' from the text group
2. Checked 'Insert Slide No.'
3. Clicked on 'Apply All'
But still nothing appears, however if I go back into 'Header and Footer' the check mark has disappeared?

Re: Slide numbering (PP 2007)
Hi Steve,
I have compiled a short how to as I have a lot of this exact issue at work...
See if you can get it fixed by following the attached step-by-step...
The crux of the issue is the following:
Slide Numbers can appear only if the slides have a Slide Number placeholder – if you add Slide Numbers to a slide that has no Slide Number placeholder, then you won’t see any Slide Number!

Thank you very much for that, there are a few differences in 2007 but using your tutorial I was able to work those out
Cheers
