Run Office 2007 and Office 2010 on same PC???
Hi,
I need to find out if this is possible?
I do lots of IT presentations/demo's using my laptop. Since Office 2010 is available, I am getting more requests to do Office 2010 demo's, whilst I still have bookings to do Office 2007 demo's. So my problem is that I need the FULL install of both versions on my PC...(incl. Outlook). I am not keen on making my laptop a dual boot PC, and therefore want to inquire if there is any way to run both versions (and both Outlook versions) without dual boot? My hard drive is partitioned with a C:\ and a D:\ drive. Will it work to have Office 2007 on C:\Microsoft and Office 2010 on D:\Microsoft. Will this help to run both versions and Outlook for my various demo's?
TX

Although you can install multiple versions of Office on your PC, there will always be problems. There are some shared components that are not installed in the Office folder, so there can be only one of them - the 2010 version. And you can have only one version of Outlook: you'd have to decide whether to keep Outlook 2007 (and not have Outlook 2010) or upgrade to Outlook 2010 (and in the process remove Outlook 2007).
Setting up a dual boot system is a MUCH better solution.

Re: Run Office 2007 and Office 2010 on same PC???
I have done some reading on the web and your replies only confirm what I was not wanting to hear. Anyways...one cannot have the toast buttered on both sides?!
It does make sense about the problems with the two versions on on drive... Its just hard to accept as if this was possible, it would make life simpler with the ability to switch between the two versions quickly for demo sake...even comparing the versions in one demo!
I understand...and will have to consider the dual boot option...or Leif...your suggestion with the Virtual PC. My company has this software and I should give it a try.
Thanks for the advice and guidance!

If you want to be able to easily compare both versions in a demo don't use dual boot use Virtual PC.

Thanks Joe. I will get the software from my company and try out this option. Overall...and for my needs it seems to be the best choice!

I concur with the Virtual PC choice - it's a free download, and we do it all the time in similar situations.

This link is the download page for Virtual PC: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... nload.aspx
Is this Virtual PC for Windows XP...(IOW: It runs a Win XP operating system?)
Is there a Virtual PC for Windows 7?
I have never used Virtual PC...please help me understand if I am off track? TX

"Windows XP mode" lets you run Windows XP in a virtual machine on a PC with Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate. It is part of Virtual PC for these versions of Windows 7.

Can you confirm if I can run Windows 7 in a virtual PC?
Is there a download like this. I don't really want to run a VPC with Windows XP.

Hi,
I just noticed this screen shot on SNAPFILES: http://www.snapfiles.com/screenshots/virtualpc.htm
The last picture shows 3 Windows versions. Am I right in assuming that when VPC is installed...you can choose with OS you want to use?

Perhaps, but take care - Windows Virtual PC 2007 is not the version for Windows 7.
