Does anyone know if there is a way to use Acrobat in Chrome?
Chrome's pdf viewer is way, way, way below the functionality of Acrobat, but Chrome doesn't support Acrobat.
Is Google going the way of Microsoft & Apple; do it our way or the highway?
Whatever happened to 'Don't be evil'?

Re: Want to use Acrobat in Chrome
By "Acrobat" do you mean "Adobe Reader"?
"Don't be Evil" was a useful slogan in the early days of the company, but it has been superseded by reality.

Re: Want to use Acrobat in Chrome
Starting April 2015, Chrome automatically disables the Acrobat Reader plugin; from next month (September 2015), it will be removed entirely by Chrome.
You may be able to disable the built-in PDF Viewer in chrome://plugins. PDFs should then open in your default PDF viewer.

Re: Want to use Acrobat in Chrome
John; Not Adobe reader, but Adobe Acrobat. In FireFox, I have got it set up so that any pdf are opened in Acrobat within the browser. I can then edit them, add or delete pages and a fair bit more, very handy.
Hans; can't see how to disable the built in viewer. Found it, will try disabling it.
Nope, didn't work. Chrome just asks me to save the pdf.

Re: Want to use Acrobat in Chrome
You're right, it doesn't work for me either...
(By the way, I find the built-in viewer adequate for viewing PDFs. If I want to do more, I'd download the file anyway)

Re: Want to use Acrobat in Chrome
You can get it to work if you go to chrome://flags and enable NPAPI, but this is only a temporary solution as they are planning to remove this flag and prevent all uses of this interface in a future release.

Re: Want to use Acrobat in Chrome
NPAPI support will be removed entirely from Chrome 45, due to be released next month (the current version is 44), so it would be a very temporary workaround indeed.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: Want to use Acrobat in Chrome
Re using the built in viewer. For just viewing it's great, but some of pdf(s) I look at I need to modify as described earlier. A real shame that Gaagle have sought fit to not allow us to use Acrobat. Shouldn't really call them that - after all Google do provide an awful lot of free services, for which I am truly grateful.

Re: Want to use Acrobat in Chrome
Google may not care about our privacy, but they do care about security. It's notoriously difficult to make NPAPI add-ins secure, and Adobe doesn't exactly have a good track record, witness the endless security breeches in Flash Player...
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: Want to use Acrobat in Chrome
I have chrome configured so that it always saves PDF files, and I then open them in Adobe software myself. It only takes one extra click.
