Why can’t I add files to my DVD using Windows Explorer?
I have a blank RW DVD that I cannot add files to. To my knowledge, it has never been used. After I put it into my computer, Windows prompted me to indicate how I wanted to treat the DVD, and I selected Treat DVD as a USB drive. After making that selection, however, I could not drag any files (MP3’s, Word files, etc.) to the DVD’s folder in Windows Explorer. Why?

How about telling W8 to treat it like a DVD ?
Cheers, Claude.

I cannot be sure what is causing this malfunction, but a few suggestions:
A few reference sites have proposed a system restore to an earlier date.
You could bypass the convenience of dragging onto the empty window of the DVD drive and drag (or copy) your files directly into the folder used for burning to media at this address: c:\users\username\appdata\local\microsoft\windows\burn\burn
Lastly, have you tried a third party application to burn your files, like: http://www.imgburn.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or https://cdburnerxp.se/en/home" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I believe it is too late; I have already told Windows to treat it like a USB drive and do not know how to undo this.Claude wrote:How about telling W8 to treat it like a DVD ?
I tried to burn the files to the DVD using Windows Media Player. I followed the following steps:
- Open the files you wish to burn in Windows Media Player.
- Select the Burn tab on the upper right.
- Drag the files that you wish to burn to the pane on the right-hand side.
- Click Start Burn.
After I clicked Start Burn, Windows Media Player ejects the DVD. I then close the door and click Start Burn again, but the DVD is rejected again.
Then I tried to drag and drop the files into Windows Explorer again. This time it worked. I don’t know why it did not work before.

Strange.......
I'm glad it's working; it took you a WHOLE YEAR to resolve this.
