I'm now using LibreCalc instead of Excel. I've encountered an issue I don't understand and haven't found a solution for. In the image, you will see that the TO DATE column contains a time stamp. That information is contained in the source that I copied into the spreadsheet. With Excel, I could select the data and format the cells and choose the format option that was must the date, ie mm/dd/yyyy, and the app would drop the time stamp.
Since the format cells option isn't dropping the time, is there another way to trim it? In the end, it doesn't matter to the functionality of the spreadsheet, I just want to know if I'm doing something wrong and learn to do it right.LibreCalc Formatting

Re: LibreCalc Formatting
What happens if you select the TO DATE column, make it wider and set the horizontal alignment to General? (I assume LibreCalc has that or a similar setting)
Are the values left-aligned or right-aligned?
Are the values left-aligned or right-aligned?
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: LibreCalc Formatting
Thanks for the suggestion, Hans.
There is no General category, but within the All category there is a General sub-category. I tried those as well as trying User Defined, but nothing has dropped the time stamp.

Re: LibreCalc Formatting
No, but that wasn't what I asked.
Select the TO DATE column.
Select Format > Cells, then activate the Alignment tab.
For Horizontal, select Default, then click OK.
Make the column a bit wider.
Are the date+time values left-aligned or right-aligned?

Re: LibreCalc Formatting
Being more careful to follow instructions this time, I did as you suggested. The values are left-aligned.

Re: LibreCalc Formatting
Thank you. That means that LibreCalc sees the values as text, not as dates/times, even though they look like dates/times.
That is why formatting won't do anything.
Try the following to see if it works in LibreCalc.
- Select an empty cell.
- Copy it (Ctrl+C).
- Select the cells with "date/times" in the TO DATE column.
- Select Edit > Paste Special... or press Ctrl+Shift+V.
- Select the Add radio button under Operations.
- Click OK.
- Apply the desired date format.
