My father-in-law used to refer to squirrels as "just rodents in fur coats", My mother-in-law would feed them peanut butter crackers on the front steps.

That's the opinion of most people with regard to grey squirrels. These American invaders are generally reviled.
Native UK red squirrels though, they are generally adored.

Definitely cute ... we are fortunate here in Norway to only have the red squirrels. Very busy now, collecting and storing/burying nuts for the loooong winter.

Aww, that's cute!
We see a grey one once a year when the cob nut tree bears fruit! He has to be quick though because the Magpies go for him!
