Error message "Can't run 16-bit Windows program
I receive the above dialogue bow along with "Insufficient memory to run this application.... etc" when I tried (just today) to run a small accounting programme. I re-booted the pc and didn't run any programme - and still get this message. CPU meter shows 1-3% use with Physical memory at 38%. Can anybody shed a light on this please? This has only, ever, happened this morning!

The "insufficient memory" error is probably bogus. Have you run this program successfully on Windows 7 before? Are you working in a different folder than before?
Best wishes,

Re: Error message "Can't run 16-bit Windows program
Hi Hans
I have been running this programme under all versions of windows since 1985! It runs perfectly up until today on Windows 7. I am working in the same folder as always. Now trying a system restore after running the reliabilty monitor and seeing that the sync controller module stopped yesterday - however that did not seem to cause me a problem yesterday.

Re: Error message "Can't run 16-bit Windows program
If you are running 64-bit Windows 7 you can not run a 16-bit program without a virtual machine. If you have Windows 7 Pro, Ultimate, or Enterprise you could download & install Windows XP Mode.

But Sgte wrote that this same program had been running OK until today...

Sorry, you're correct. I mis-interpreted what he was saying. However, I'd still not trust a 16-bit application to run properly on Windows 7 outside of a VM.

Re: Error message "Can't run 16-bit Windows program
Well everything is fine now. I went to reliability monitor and saw that the error had occurred after the 13th September. Chose a restore point on the 13th and afeter the updates etc were installed the PC and programmes are running nicely together.
