Smilies - wish list
This thread is for short(1) suggestions for new Smilies when, not if, we get upgraded software.
I will start the ball rolling in a metaphorical sense.
We need at least two "sports ball" smilies - a Soccer ball, and an Aussie Rules ball.
(1) Chris Greaves Please Note.
Cheers

Re: Smilies - wish list
Why do you need these smilies and what would you do with them (except start them rolling)?
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: Smilies - wish list
I was thinking we need a skunk smiley for some of the posts I make.
While we are on the subject, how are smilies made?

Re: Smilies - wish list
Chris' idea is to start a debate (= row! ) between himself and those who would also want a rugby ball (either Rugby Union or Rugby League, virtually identical) and an "american" football.

Re: Smilies - wish list
I second that and would go as far to say a second :skunk: might be handy in some cases.

That is a first attempt to add a football/soccer ball smiley.

A smiley is just a small .gif file that we (admins) upload to the Lounge server and assign a code...

Thanks John.John Gray wrote: ↑23 Nov 2020, 19:19Chris' idea is to start a debate (= row! ) between himself and those who would also want a rugby ball (either Rugby Union or Rugby League, virtually identical) and an "american" football. I missed on my way through the four screens, although I made what I thought was an effective use of the case, and anyway I was asking for an Aussie Rules football, not a rugby (Union, League or otherwise) ball. The Great Statement on American "football" has already been issued and I do not intend to repeat it here.
Now as I stated in my introduction to this thread "This thread is for short suggestions for new Smilies when, not if, we get upgraded software."
A statement written in English.
"... to start a debate (= row! ) between himself and those ... " was the farthest thing from my mind. My main thought was that I do not consider myself to be different from anyone else, and reasoned (using logic) that if I found a desire for new smilies, then perhaps others would find such a need on their minds, too.
Hence this thread: an arena where regular folks can pitch ideas for new smilies.
I might point out the meaning of the term arena comes from the Romans who used the term harena to refer to the portion of the amphitheater where the gladiators fought. The term harena meant ‘sand.’ And this term was used because the fighting area was covered with sand to absorb the blood of the gladiators. So from there we get the word arena. (3m42s to 4m00s) and that gives rise to the thought that a smiley for :bloody: might be a good idea, along with :gladiator:.
Or something.
I suggested "short suggestions" because I felt that only one or two lines were needed to suggest a smiley.
Of course, lengthy posts can and will result when we find someone who, apparently, wishes to turn a simple itemized thread into debate (= row! ).
Cheers
Chris

Re: Smilies - wish list
I added as a result of your request, Chris. However, it is not a very good smiley - it does not have a transparent background.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: Smilies - wish list
Hang about.
Hans, do you mean that you just created that smiley now? Could that be why I did not see an hour or so ago when I started this thread? If so, then I need to go back and retract part of my apology to John Gray.
Further, I think we might have found someone who can create these Gifs of which we all dream!
Cheers

:soccer: is not one of our own smileys, but a Unicode emoji.
:soccerball: was an attempt by me to add a smiley.
