Multiple languages

Post by John Gray »

I have been asked whether it is possible in Word to display and print a sentence which has been translated into as many languages as possible. The ones with roman script are no problem, but we need Amharic, Arabic, Chinese (possibly several variants)... and so on. Basically all the more common languages and scripts of the world!

Can anyone suggest a minimum-effort way of doing this (the sentences would be sent in as emails, and so would not need to be entered - just printed.)

Thanks

I didn't think it mattered (apart from all the super new 'foreign' fonts in Windows 7!), but XP Pro and Word 2003...

You'll probably have to install fonts for each of the languages - they automatically come with Windows Vista and later, but not with XP.

Sorry! Amharic script and the like display fine on my Windows 7 PC at home, but as boxes on my Windows XP machine at work.
Best wishes,
Hans

Just as a matter of interest, how would the sentences be 'sent in'? Presumably, the sender would have to have the original font in the first place, so would it be possible for them to email them in (say) MS Word with the font embedded, and if so, could that embedded font be copied to a common document?

Just curious!
