Hi all - Can anyone help?
We have a number of very complex documents created by my firm, where there are a vast amount of styles and from a user perspective the need to view each separate style is essential when working within these documents. They are using the "Styles" dock panel where all styles are listed (and can be selected in a preview state) but if there are a large amount of styles they have to use the scroll bar to identify the style they are on.
Is there a way of identifying the style without scrolling through the list? We have looked at the "Style Inspector" but apparently they need to view the style above and below the style selected.
It was also mentioned that there was a way of viewing styles via a column on the left (in the same way "Comments" are viewed) which has the relevant style name appear in the column.
Any incite into this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jack

Re: Viewing Styles in Word 2007
You can view the Style area in Draft view and Outline view.
Switch to one of these views.
Click the Office button.
Click Word Options.
Click Advanced.
Set the Style area pane width to a positive value, e.g. 1,5" or 4 cm.
Click OK.
You'll see the style names in the left hand pane.

Re: Viewing Styles in Word 2007
The approach I use is to add the old Styles drop down to the quick access toolbar (QAT). This takes very little space on the screen and provides constantly updated view of the current style.
To do this
To do this
- click the dropdown next to the QAT
- select More Commands...
- select "Commands Not in the Ribbon" in the "Choose commands from" dropdown
- select Style in the big list box
- click add to add the style dropdown to the QAT
