Horizontal and vertical scrolling do not always work
Horizontal and vertical scrolling random works on some days for me but then not on other days. Is this a sign of failing hardware? Or is my driver corrupt? How would I know?

Do you mean scrolling with the mouse wheel?

Sorry; I mean with my touchpad, using the right and bottom edges of my touchpad.

Re: Horizontal and vertical scrolling do not always work
Though this tutorial deals with Lenovo laptops, the general settings pointed to in the tutorial remain similar for most PC's. See if you can navigate to the settings as discussed in the tutorial and check if the options are active or modify the sensitivity of the settings to a more desirable format.

Re: Horizontal and vertical scrolling do not always work
I just went into Synaptics Touchpad V7.5 and found that Scrolling was unticked. I am not sure how it got unticked. I reticked it and now it is working again. However, in the past and with increased recent frequency, scrolling does not work even when I have Scrolling ticked.

Re: Horizontal and vertical scrolling do not always work
I try to avoid the touchpad and prefer to use a mouse.
If I have to use the touchpad in very rare cases, I would use the scroll bars in the application and not fuss with the touchpad scroll feature.

Re: Horizontal and vertical scrolling do not always work
I'm happy to hear that there is at least another person who doesn't care for touch-pads! I hate them! At the museum ( my now keep busy P/T job ) there is a mix of PCs and laptops all over the place. I ended up buying a regular USB mini mouse. Carry it in my pocket and plug it in when I need to use the laptop. Best $2.50 investment ever!Rudi wrote:I try to avoid the touchpad and prefer to use a mouse.

I use a laptop at work, but always with an external keyboard and mouse. I dislike touchpads too (although slightly less than those awful pointing sticks that were fashionable 15 years ago or so).
Best wishes,
Hans
