Good morning.
My motherboard has what I thought was a spare PCI-E slot.
I assumed that a PCI card would go in it ok.
But it doesn't! Is my assumption incorrect or should I try again more carefully?
Regards
Graeme

Re: PCI/PCI-E
It looks like it should fit. Be careful - don't exert too much force!
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: PCI/PCI-E
I would say that putting a PCI card into a PCI-e slot is either physically impossible, or not a good idea even if it fits!Graeme wrote: My motherboard has what I thought was a spare PCI-E slot.

How much Googling did you do first?!

Re: PCI/PCI-E
Thanks John
It would appear that the first short section of contacts is wider than the slot allows.
I didn't really do any Googling till after I discovered the card didn't want to go in the slot. PCI-e slots were not invented last time I had the lid off a PC! I'll have to take it back and swap it.

I'm a little late getting into this thread BUT they are definitely not interchangeable.

I took the opportunity to hoover up whilst the lid was off!
