1511 Upgrade (Build 10586.3)
Just completed a marathon 1511 update to W10 ! Took best part of 3 (yes, 3) hours, including the download time. Everything seems to be okay and haven't come across any issues as yet - Although Speccy has been removed (by the new build) from my system as the latest version of Windows 10 doesn't support it. I had already removed it previously as it crashed Windows every time I ran it (since upgrading from W7). Not so sure that others have had such an easy (if long) ride
Regards,
Keith

I can't get the 1511 update - Windows Update says I'm up to date...

That's because you machine is a clever clogs!
(Assume 1511 is a complete new operating system? When I checked 'view my update history' it tells me 'no updates have been installed yet' !!!)

Installing the 1511 update has indeed replaced the initial version of Windows 10 (build 10240).
Best wishes,
Hans

I've also not been offered the update, the WIndows 10 November update FAQ lists 3 possible reasons but I'm sure none of them apply to me.
It also shows how to manually install the update by going to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software ... /windows10 and clicking Upgrade now. I may do that in a few days.

The Upgrade Now option appears to be for Windows 7 / 8.1 users. I haven't tried whether it works for Windows 10 too.

My Win10 updated from build 10586 without trouble. (I've been in the Insider fast track since it started.)
This is running in a VMWare virtual machine -- I'll probably hold off upgrading from Win7 on the host for another 4 to 6 months, until I'm sure all the driver issues have been ironed out.You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I got offered the update today. The upgrade went painlessly in about 45 minutes (including the download time). Just like Keith, I was notified that Speccy has been removed.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: 1511 Upgrade (Build 10586.3)
One irritating feature: I had uninstalled a series of apps that came with Windows 10 because I won't ever use them, such as the add-ridden Microsoft Solitaire Collection. All those apps have been reinstalled...
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: 1511 Upgrade (Build 10586.3)
Assume upgrade time difference is down to a: internet connection (mine's only 4Mbps down and .6Mbps up) and b: computer processor capabilities? Seems a large difference, nevertheless (my system probably equates to what was, many years ago, was referred to as 'steam radio'HansV wrote:I got offered the update today. My internet speed is 55 Mbps down / 5.5 Mbps up, and I have a 3.3 GHz Intel i5 processor.

Re: 1511 Upgrade (Build 10586.3)
I haven't been offered the update yet and so yesterday (Nov. 13), I tried the "Upgrade" route as mentioned by TonyE. It worked perfectly on a notebook running the previous version of Windows 10, but it stuttered when I tried this on my main (desktop) machine. Everything seemed to be going perfectly . . . . until the final reboot.
When the system was up and running again, there was an error message to the effect that "the installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phrase with an error during SYSPREP operation", and that everything had been reset to its original state (i.e. build 10240). I had no time to try this again, so after making sure that everything was back in working order, I turned my attention to preparing supper.
Later last evening (while surfing), a message popped up in the notification area that there were disk errors and to "click here" to scan and detect errors on the drive. I did that, and shortly after I received another notification to "click here" to reboot to finish correcting the errors. I did so, and thus far, everything seems to be OK. I think I'll wait until I'm offered the update via Windows Update on this machine and proceed that way.

Re: 1511 Upgrade (Build 10586.3)
I had still not been offered the upgrade so went for the "Upgrade now" option form the MS download site. Installation went smoothly and quickly (approx 30 mins).
It did remove the Windows 7 versions of the Microsoft solitaire games which I had installed as I think are better than the Windows 10 versions. This was quickly rectified

I'm running the portable version of Speccy 1.29.709 on two different Windows 10 machines both of which are running the latest Windows 10.

Re: 1511 Upgrade (Build 10586.3)
Thanks - the Piriform forums mention that the installer version doesn't run on Windows 10 1511; apparently this doesn't hold for the portable version.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: 1511 Upgrade (Build 10586.3)
My Windows tablet only has a 16GB hard drive, and you've guessed it, there's not enough room to install this new version. Windows is telling me it wants another 3.61 GB. The machine has yet to be used so there's nothing I can uninstall to get close to that value. Well done Microsoft!

See if you can use any of the advice and info in these threads...
-- Windows 10 upgrade version 1511 - not enough space.
-- Windows 10 Nov Update 1511 build 10586 asks for additional 6gb free storage on C drive.

Re: 1511 Upgrade (Build 10586.3)
Thanks for the links, Rudi, I hadn't seen either of those pages but they don't provide a solution. The closest is to try and use the MediaCreationTool but the trouble is that if I use that from the tablet it doesn't give me the option of saving an ISO or even formatting a USB. Iit just wants to overwrite C:\ which will lead to the same problem as updating directly.
