I'm not really a fan of tab browsing and under IE 10 I had it turned off. This morning I was offered, and installed, IE 11 for Windows 7, 64 bit, which has now become my default browser (I think my IE 10 was 32). Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to find any way of turning off tab browsing. Is there a way, or do I have to just grin and bear it?
I see that under 'Control Panel and Features, Turn Windows Features on or off', I do have an option to 'untick' IE 11 - Would that automatically revert me back to IE 10 (which doesn't appear to be in that list)? Going back to IE 10 seems to be a bit of a retrograde step as I assume IE 11 is a better security bet than IE 10? It certainly seems quicker!
Grateful any advice please.
Thanks!

Select Tools | Internet Options...
Click Tabs.
Clear the check box "Enable tabbed browsing".
Click OK twice.
You'll have to close and reopen IE to see the effect.
(If you uninstall IE11, you'll automatically get IE10 back.)

Thanks Hans. What you suggest was the option that I had under IE 10. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have the option to do what you suggest under IE 11- I've tried un-ticking the 'enable tab groups' option, but that doesn't seem to do anything. I'll have a ponder about reverting to IE 10 - I quite like how much quicker IE 11 seems to be, so perhaps I'll learn to live with tab browsing!
My thanks,

Ah - Microsoft has indeed removed the option to turn tabbed browsing on or off. It's always on now.
You can minimize the effect of tabbed browsing if you select the radio buttons
When a pop-up is encountered:
- Always open pop-ups in a new window
Open links from other programs in:
- A new window
