The link to Google Photos worked!

We haven't installed the extension that lets you @ a member. We'll look into it.
Best wishes,
Hans

Yah but I just deleted the link. Why? Because I tested it after sending and the link took you to my Google account where one could do all sorts of damage.

The link appears to be gone after I edited the message. Hopefully so!

Bob

It works as expected. No links needed which is what I did the first time. I just have to ensure that my phone resize app stores the resized photo in the right folder.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

You should use [ and ], not [t] and [/t]. The latter "escape" the tags, making them ineffective.

Hans

While that BBcode inserts a link to the user's profile, it doesn't 'mention' the user, i.e. trigger a notification to that user, which is what Bob was wanting. At least that's my understanding of both what Bob wanted and how phpBB works but I'm happy to be corrected.

I looked at the Simple Mentions extension. It requires a newer version of phpBB3 than the one we're using, so we won't be able to install it anytime soon.
Best wishes,
Hans

Hello Bob

Hope you make it home today and get to rest so they can sort you out.

In the meantime. Thanks for the bb code lesson!

... found your pictures and story so intriguing.....
I enjoyed sharing some of my “activities” with you, from here in the Fatherland, - You will appreciate now that I have to be a bit more careful what I show locally… Good to hear I am not under observation by the Canadian authorities yet, well I guess traditionally Canada would be part of the Allies on my side… – and they’re obviously more interested in spending a month inspecting and analysing what Hans sends -( I guess he is known world wide for passing a lot of coding, and they saw something after scanning his card with their digital enigma machine… ! )
So I know now Canada is one land I can still fly over safely in my Private Jet….

Alan
Arnold: How did I get in here?
Taxi driver: The door opened, you got in.

Sorry, I can't tell if that worked or not as I have disabled all emails from The Lounge. Even if I had not done that though, because I'd already replied to this topic, I should have been notified of new replies anyway. What the Simple Mentions extension appears to do is allow a previously non-participant in the topic to be notified that their username had been mentioned. However, Hans has already posted that this extension can't be used here as The Lounge doesn't use phpBB 3.3 or higher.

Perhaps no bad thing though as something I read while searching for the sort of feature for phpBB pointed out that being able to '@' someone is great for a discussion forum, where conversation is main focus, it's not really that useful for a Q&A forum, which of course is the main function of The Lounge. It's only us long time members that have turned Scuttlebutt into a form of Social Media :pirate: Inappropriate use of an '@' feature in the main boards could lead to breaches of Rule 3, which says:
Do not make demands of other members

Hi Ken,
Your understanding is correct and confirmed that message does not get sent to user.

Bob

Chris, I should and must also apologize to you for "the unique" Get Well card you sent and was received at the same time as Alan's letter.
Hi Bob. OK. I'll wait until I receive the apology before I reply to it.
In the meantime, you should be home around the time you read this reply.

A broken shoulder has cost Loungers many hours of worry, chewed-off-fingernails etc, so before you start climbing ladders to fix the loose tile where the garage meets the living-room wall, start work on a wet tiled floor to stop the bathroom tap from dripping before tackling repainting the house, consider your friends, and hire young contractors to do these jobs.

Cheers, Chris

[user]ChrisGreaves[/user]Hey Chris, are you there?
Hi Bob, and by the time you read this I won't be here; I'll be across the street planting daffodils and tulips.
And you won't be here either, you'll be somewhere between Pickering and Pickering.
I hope, I hope, I hope, ...
And yes, even BobArch2 won't be here when I post this reply.
P.S. I had a girlfriend stay over for five hours yesterday, name of Bonnie. Looked like a grown-up version of your avatar. A lab/husky cross. I will spend this afternoon building a dog-cart, methinks.
Cheers, Chris

Young Bob wrote me:-

Just waiting for son to pick me up.

WHEEEEE

to which I have replied

BA>>>WHEEEEE

Sheesh! I've not been gone five years and already the standard of spelling is slipping.

The "L" and "S" are NOT silent .....

Please tell your son "thanks from Chris"

Cheers, chris
