Update: Windows 11 22H2 rollout has started

Post by HansV »

Microsoft has released the first major update to Windows 11. It will be rolled out gradually - it is currently being offered through Windows Update to a small number of users only.
See Download Windows 11 for ways to get it now, if you can't wait.

A feature that had been removed from the initial version has been restored: the icons of folders that contain pictures can display a preview of their contents again.
Best wishes,
Hans

FYI, I decided to use the Windows 11 Installation Assistant. Installation was quick and painless.
Best wishes,

Not so quick for me. Took longer than I thought. Had to apply a patch after the installation to get to build 22621.521. The only issue I had was that a Hyper-V VM lost internet connectivity after the upgrade. I had to disable the virtual switch extensions in the Hyper-V manager. No biggie but had me going for a bit. All else seems well.

There are some reports of users having problems installing the update itself, or installing 2022-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5017321).
I guess that's the risk of wanting to install it immediately.
Best wishes,
Hans

I had to download KB5017321 from the Microsoft update catalog to get it installed. Another reason it took me a bit longer than I had anticipated.
