I certainly think that it's possible, and I also STRONGLY believe that one should only run programs that have a clearly understood benefit. There is too much complexity in a modern PC for me to want to add more that isn't needed
I can't disagree with that. I can't remember where it was that I first heard about Revo but I only belonged to 1 forum like this years ago and it was Woody's Lounge. Once things changed back then I became a member here. I do remember the talk was that, and this is back in the Windows XP days I believe, Windows uninstall didn't do a good job and Revo was recommended. I used the free version for years with no problems. I switched to the Pro version a little over 2 years ago and didn't think I had any problems with it until now. Still, I'm not 100% certain it caused my problem but I can't think of anything else I could have done to cause those system files to not be present. I'm going to have to be careful in the future.

I too have used the free version of Revo fro many years. It's never caused me any problems. However, I am always careful to review any leftover registry entries and folder & files it finds, i.e.I don't blindly select everything it suggests. Having said that, I can't remember the last time it appeared to be too aggressive and suggest the deletion of something that wasn't obviously a genuine leftover.

Thank you. I guess I will have to be more selective and hopefully make the correct choices.

I haven't had any problems caused by incompletely installed programs since I ran Windows 95.

I'm confused. Do you mean incompletely uninstalled programs?
