Can you attach a sample workbook demonstrating the problem?

Hello Hans,
I don't have it.
Can we see the name of a table in name ranges If we convert a range to a table and give that table a name?

Tables are a little bit strange in office 365.

Regards,
Bita

BittenApple, you wrote "Can we see the name of a table in name ranges If we convert a range to a table and give that table a name?"
So try converting a range to a table and naming it. Then see if the table name is listed when you press F3.
(The answer will be "no")

Hans

Hans,
Thanks for response.
Do we need to give our range a name and then convert it to a table?

As a general question, that makes no sense.
There are many situations in which naming a range is useful.
And there are many situations in which converting a range to a table is useful.
But the sequence "name a range, then convert it to a table" has no particular meaning.

Hello Hans,

How do we name a range which is converted to a table? Is there a way to see that table name by F3?

Thanks,
BittenApple

You can assign a name to the table range or to a part of the table range the usual way. Select the range, then either type the name in the name box on the left hand side of the formula bar and press Enter, or click Define Name on the Formulas tab of the ribbon.
A name that you assign this way will appear in the Paste Name dialog (F3). The name of the table itself won't be listed, as you have found.

P.S. in many formulas, you can use both the table name and the range name, with the same result:

Hello Hans,

"The name of the table itself won't be listed"

Can you please explain about this? If I insert a table on a range and then name it, this name will appear when we press F3.

Then what wouldn't be shown when we press F3?

Many, many thanks,
BittenApple

The name of the table won't be displayed in the Paste Name dialog. Only range names.
