Gantt chart

Post by jimpatel1993 »

Thanks for looking at my post.
I have Gantt chart with periods heading on the top.
I wanted to do not do anyjob activity in the highlighted periods. That is those times are breaks times and i wanted to avoid those times while planning. Any idea guys?
Thanks and much appreciated

This is going to be complicated. I'll see if I can come up with something, but don't hold your breath.

It is far too difficult to do what you want.
Instead of trying to skip periods, change the dates associated with the periods - see the attached version for an example.

Thanks for your time and effort Hans.
I don't understand what is that date does?
Can you pleasw explain bit more when you have time please.
I always have standard periods as break periods. That is example I always use period 10 till 15 as break and 25 till 27 as break. So I don't want to allocate any work during that standard break time.
Is that date does somewhat similar?
Thanks again and sorry about this question

I assume that each period corresponds to a date. In the version that I posted, the dates are 1 week apart, but that was just an example. For the breaks, indicated by dates in read, the difference is not 1 week, but 3 or 4. So no work is allocated during the 'missing' weeks.

Hans

Thanks for your reply.
Understood.
Actually I was not clear enough and really sorry about that . I am looking for time and not dates. That is shift start at 9 am and finish at 5 pm and each block I have splitted into 10 mins. I hope this will give an idea of what I am looking for.

In that case, you can enter times in row 1 instead of dates.

Yeah that's what I done.
Thanks a lot Hans

One last question
Sorry I am more annoying you today.
Is there any possibility for task to begin next day when day is closed at 5 pm.
That is instead of task list keep carrying on the side way if the time is fixed is there any way to start from beginning again in the next row?

Thanks again

Again, that's too complicated.

If you really need this, you might look into Microsoft Project.
