How to find a RGB for a color on the ribbon of a company website?

Post by BittenApple »

Hello team,
I want to find out the RGB for a color on the ribbon of a company portal. How can I do that?

I use the 'screen color picker' tool in Faststone capture for this. Many other programs have similar tools.

Is there a reason you have asked this question in the Excel forum? I suspect it should be moved, but I might have misunderstood the question.

Hello StuartR,
I am building a dashboard in Excel and I need to use the color brand of the company.
Respectfully,

You want to use the color in Excel, but getting the color is not an Excel problem in itself. I'll move this to Graphics and Video Software.
Best wishes,
Hans

When I wanted to do something similar, i.e. get the rgb values of a particular colour on our website I:
- used Firefox
- RIGHT click on the relevant bit of the web page
- choose 'Inspect Element (Q)'
- read off the hex value of the 'color'
- put the hex value into this page:

I use a teen-weeny portable application called Pixie available from www.nattyware.com whenever I want the HEX, HTML, RGB, CMYK and HSV codes for any color on the screen. Works with Win 10. Hover over a color with your pointer and voila!

I've used the sadly-misnamed ColorPic* utility for ever-so-many-years and found it adequate for my purposes.

* yes, of course it should have been called ColourPicker! But all that time ago, an 8-character name was a Good Thing.

Thanks for all the responses.
We don't have FireFox at work and I can't download anything. But what you put here, definitely helps.
