Change Order of Directories Displayed in File Explorer

Post by BobH »

I have a vague recollection of having asked this before, but I've slept more than twice since. I did a search for File Explorer but did not find the relevant post.

Is it possible to control the order that directories are shown in File Explorer? I tried to drag and drop without success.

Is this a remembered dream? :hairout:

 :chocciebar: :thankyou:

No, you cannot drag files and subfolders around in a folder.
You can specify the sort order from View > Sort By.
If you display File Explorer in Details view, you can also click on a column header to specify the sort order. First time sorts on that column, second tinme reverses the sort order.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks, again, Mr. V!

I didn't phrase my question very well. I want to know if I can control the order of appearance of directories in the column screenshot from File Explorer's display.

No, you can't - that order is fixed.
