"Following" a user

Post by ChrisGreaves »

Is it possible in Eileen's Lounge to receive an email notification each time a specific user makes a new post (not thread)?

It would be a bad idea to Follow Hans (or me for that matter), but suppose that I had decided that userA consistently made sense to me, in almost any matter posted in any forum on this lounge, then I would be well-served with a heads-up notification whenever that person crept out of their lair and pinned a new thought to the wall.
Thanks
Chris
P.S. While I'm on the subject, shouldn't the letter "H" be capitalized?

No, the forum software does not provide for that.
Best wishes,

Chris, we can easily elevate you to the rank of "Stalker" if that's what you want?

I am working on it. 10,000 responses, isn't it?
Cheers

P.S. I refuse to get segued into a discussion of when a Stalk end off and a Leif begins.

"honorary Lounge Pedant" is quite acceptable, because "honorary" indicates a specific instance of the class of Lounge Pedants. There could, theoretically, be "paid Lounge Pedants" - but, as Hans says, "the forum software does not provide for that".

Well, yes, but ...
While I have no objection to the use of the non-capitalized "honorary" being used as an adjective, I rather suspect that if I spent enough time I could locate (or even write) a style book which recommended capitalizing the first word of a phrase that is enclosed in quotes as a means of highlighting the phrase; there is probably a term for a phrase that is the equivalent syntactic atom to a proper noun. A "Proper Phrase", for example.

I think Hans may be alluding to the standard twitter inquiry message format often used between teenage girls:
"U OK hun?"

"U OK hun?"
Capitalised, this would be a capital idea.
I am currently wading through Kevin Stroud's "History of English Podcast" and John Keegan's "The history of warfare" and have gotten as far as "The sixteen kingdoms and the five barbarians".
Where was I?
Oh yes, "hun".
Given too that Hubert calls me Farmer John, as in a tiller of soil, I could use a compound moniker of "A tiller, the Hun".
I could be described as ravishing!
Go for it!
Cheers

"U OK hun?" is an inquiry after the health and/or mental state of one's friend, affectionately known as 'honey', abbreviated phonetically as 'hun'. A possible response could be "PM me, babes". [Message punctuation and/or capitalisation appears to be optional.]

It is not surprising that inquiries after the health or mental state of someone categorised as the Lounge Stalker might be being made...

Quite so.
But should I be worried about myself, or about Hans?
And while we are at it, which one of us resembles a teenage girl. (I know that I don't!)
Acronyms are useful, initially.
I maintain that "Acronyms are a Capital Idiom".

I can emphatically attest to the fact that Chris does not resemble a teenage girl but does certainly have the capability to charm them! Don't know about Hans  .
