[Shouldn't the name of this 'Internet Explorer' forum be changed to 'Edge' or 'Microsoft Edge', by the way?]
When I view the website of local newspapers with many pictures shown, it annoys me intensely to have the photos initially rendered in black-and-white, then about a second later, have the colour added in in one burst. Do other people get this effect?

I rarely use Edge or IE, John, but if you let us know the URL of the web site then I will happily try it out for you

Me neither, but I can't get article comments to show up in Firefox - probably the result of assorted blockers, needed to make the web pages readable!

It seems fine in Edge from here.
When I open it with IE, it autoplays a very annoying video, and unmutes my speakers after I mute them!!!

Edge is very much a minority browser - it falls under "Other Browsers".
Best wishes,

Re: CrEdge - annoying rendering behaviour
Do you have "lazy image loading" enabled in edge://flags?
In Edge settings, the system section, do you have hardware acceleration enabled?

Thanks, Joe!
I had 'Default' set for "lazy image loading", but that doesn't give me any idea what the default is set to!
I changed it to 'Disabled', but it didn't make any difference.
I also changed "lazy frame loading" to 'default', but that didn't make any difference either.
Hardware acceleration is shown as enabled.
