Upgrade Office 365 From Office 2013 to Office 2016

Post by hlewton »

If I update Office 365 from Office 2013 to Office 2016 will my pinned shortcuts on the taskbar that now say “Word 2013,” “Excel 2013,” etc. update to say “Word 2016,” “Excel 2016,” etc. automatically? Also I have 4 Access databases pinned to the “Access 2013” shortcut, will they update or will all of this have to be done manually again after the Office 2016 update is installed? Office 2013 will be removed in this update, won't it? I mean there won't be 2 versions of Office left on my computer, will there?

I have been delaying this update because everything works as I want it to now including Outlook 2013 and I am hoping it is an easy update with little challenges once complete. I believe from a previous thread that Outlook 2016 should be a straight forward update and require no changes or set up. It should just work as Outlook 2013 works now. Is that correct?

Upgrading from Office 2013 to Office 2016 in Office 365 will remove Office 2013.

I fear that the shortcuts pinned to the taskbar won't be updated automatically, you'll probably have to create them anew. The same holds for the databases pinned to the Access shortcut.

Outlook should keep on working without needing any setup.
Best wishes,
Hans
