Safely Remove Device Notification in Win 11

Post by hlewton »

When I eject a USB device I am not getting the Safe To Remove Device notification. I can find information about that problem for Windows 10 but not for Windows 11. How do I get that notification to appear again and tell me that it is safe to remove the device?

Thanks.

Do you mean you can't find the icon to click to Eject - e.g.:

Or that having clicked on it, you do not get any notification at all?

No, I have the icon. When I choose "Eject" I am no longer getting the message that it is safe to remove the device, or sometimes it told me it was not safe to remove the device because it was still in use. I can't even tell you when that started happening but I do know I was getting the notification in Windows 11 at one time, for sure.

Well I believe I got it back. I stumbled on what to set when I saw AutoPlay was turned off on System>Notification. I set it as can be seen in the attachment and it now seems to be functioning as I remember it doing before, probably one of MS's updates changed its setting. I know for sure, I did not turn it off.
