Set up Windows key + number shortcuts to not show a preview

Set up Windows key + number shortcuts to not show a preview

On one of my laptops, pressing Windows key + number shortcuts shows a preview of the window that is about to display. When I toggle between the various open windows, the entire background of my laptop screen shows the open window being previewed. On another laptop, no preview displays. How do I configure the first laptop to not show a preview?

Did no one post a reply to this question because the question is unclear or because the answer is unknown?

I did not answer because I have absolutely no idea. When I type Windows-1 this causes an immediate switch to the first window on my taskbar.

According to Microsoft the Windows key + a number opens the desktop and starts the app pinned to the taskbar in the position indicated by the number. If the app is already running switch to the app. See Windows Keyboard shortcuts

StuartR: suppose you have Word set as the first icon on your taskbar. You have 2 Word documents open. If you press Windows + 1, a thumbnail preview of the first Word file shows up; if you release and then press 1 again while holding down the Windows key, a thumbnail preview of the second Word file shows up. As you toggle between the two Word file thumbnails, does your screen's background change to match whatever thumbnail preview is displayed?

The only time you get a thumbnail preview is if there is more than one instance of the program open. That is so you can repeat the key sequence to choose a different instance other than the first. Windows is still switching to that app and instance on the desktop. That is not a preview.

Yes, when I have two instances of Word open I do see a thumbnail preview - I also see the same document in full size with other windows not showing on the screen
