Ejecting

Post by Ted Myers »

Hello, why is it so difficult to 'Safely Remove' an external USB HDD & a Thumb Drive. All of mine have various things in them, which I thought could cause it not to be removable safely. Then I tried a brand new San Disk with only FF Portable which was used then shut down 'Menu & Exit' still failed even after a minute or so. Any Ideas please.?
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

Perhaps FF was still running a a background process, in anticipation of you wanting to restart it. If you try again, i.e. run FF Portable from the USB stick, use it, then shut it down, what do you see in Task Manager? Use the 'More details' view, there there won't be anything showing at the top under 'Apps' but scroll down through 'Background processes'. Is FF stil showing there? If so that process will make it look like the USB stick is stil in use.

Hello Ken, sorry for the late reply. Latest version of FF Portable copied to brand new USB Thumb Drive.
Not used it so far, therefore no entrys in Task Manager.
With FF running I get FF (6) on the 'Process Tab. + showing in Background processes as (32bit) I know for a fact its (64bit)
Click 'File Exit' on the Menu. FF disappears from all Task Manager.
Safely remove worked first time.
Will remember your tip, thanks.
