running programs as a different user

Post by Timelord »

Everyone in my department has 2 accounts when we connect to our data center. Some of the programs that I have to run require me to login to the program as a different user than the one I am logged into Windows. I have found how to modify the shortcut so that a command window opens requesting my password but I am wondering if there is another way to log in. Not sure what more I am looking for but I just find this no better than holding shift and right clicking and selecting run as a different user.

You can add "Run as a different user" to the right-click menu of applications in the Start menu: see Show Run as Different User on Start menu in Windows 10.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks Hans. Once again you have the answer. It turned out that option was already set but it brought home that I had to add the programs to the start menu so that I could bring up that new screen by clicking the 'usedtobestart' button and then just right click what I need to. I guess I really need to acclimatize myself to Windows 10.
