This actually is a Windows question...
I D/L and installed a program called e-Sword (http://www.e-sword.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). It works fine although when I click on Help then on one of the Help menu choices (Training Demos, Tech Support, or User Group) there is no response except that the menu dims. I contacted their tech support who initially thought maybe I did not have a default browser... I do have a default browser and told them so.
Now, they said that either the http calls are not getting through OR there is already a browser open in the background. I checked and there is no browser running in the background other that the browser already open and none of the tabs are opened to the content I wanted.
So I wonder of anyone knows of any secret registry setting that controls http calls. The program (e-Sword) works fine with http calls when I D/L various modules through the proram.
Registry is all I can think of.
Registry setting for http calls?

Re: Registry setting for http calls?
Hi Don,
IMHO, I don't think it will be a registry issue or http calls issue, esp. if other modules are working fine.
There is not a lot of specific help on Google for this issue so I went to e-Swords support page and scanned around there. Again, nothing specific to your question, but have a look at advice and support provided in this thread. Maybe something that is mentioned in it will apply to you and resolve? If nothing comes from that, it would be best to wait for replies to your post in their own forum at Bible Support.com. Hope you come right.

What browser are you using?
What type of files (i.e. html, chm) are the help files?

Re: Registry setting for http calls?
Thank you all. Rudi, that thread you sent provided the solution. It was as simple as finding the program folder c:\program Files (x86)\e-Sword and removing the 'Read Only' attribute.
I don't understand how that could possibly make a difference but it did.
Thanks again.

Hey Rudi, what search terms did you use to find that? I looked all over the forum for something relevant but No Joy. Yet, you found it under e-Sword Modules / Resources .
