Windows 10 telemetry gathering

Post by JoeP »

Here's an article worth reading that is somewhat more measured than others. Relax, Windows 10 doesn’t have a malicious ‘keylogger’.

Thanks, Joe. Another one that was mentioned both in the Windows Secrets Lounge and here last month: No, Microsoft is not spying on you with Windows 10.
Best wishes,
Hans

I think the truth lies somewhere in between these opinions. We certainly know that organizations such as Google and Facebook are making very good money by using people's private information to target advertising, so it's not unreasonable to read the new privacy notices from Microsoft and wonder whether they also see this as an opportunity.

Somehow Google, Facebook etc. mining personal data seems less scary than MS doing it, since no one makes you use Google, Facebook etc. but it's much harder to not use Windows.

NB before anyone points it out, I am aware that other operating systems are available.
