Contacts

Post by silverback »

My wife and I have a number of Android devices - two tablets and two phones. We have Gmail accounts, but don't use them.
All our devices have some contacts - I am completely unclear as to how they got on these devices - and they are now out of date. People have been removed, moved house, emails etc.
I have exported our Master Contacts set from Outlook (our principal email program) and I can see if I log into my Gmail account that I can import these into my GMail account.
Question 1 : Presumably, once imported there, they will be synchronised across all the devices - correct?

Question 2 : if I import the contacts, will they overwrite the existing ones in Gmail or will I end up with double the number of contacts?
I will be importing from a .csv file.
Thanks

1) Yes, Google Contacts are synchronized between devices (if you login with the same Google account of course).
2) Imported contacts will be added to the existing ones. Google Contacts can merge duplicates (it's a separate feature).
Best wishes,
Hans
