^&*(*&% Apple (Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!)

Post by BobH »

Does anyone know of a different way to backup and restore iOS systems (iPhones, iPads) other than using iTunes?

The only way that I know of to get my desktop Windows 7 system to recognize that I have the iPhone attached is to load iTunes and navigate to Devices where I can then choose to synchronize or backup the device or restore it from a backup. iTunes doesn't always recognize that the device is attached. I've also had iTunes presume that it is attached and ask if I want to eject it, but it doesn't eject it even though I have chosen the option. I've also had iTunes hang my system and require a reboot.

At this point I'm pretty disgusted with the way Apple have managed the interface between their devices and Windows-based systems. While I'm reasonably well satisfied with the iOS devices, I'm really disgusted with the interface to my desktop which is where I keep all my music, videos, photos, et al that I might want to interface to the i-products.

Anyone?

Have you tried Syncios? See here for details.
(I've downloaded it in the past and used it for a short while...but since I do not use it (or iTunes that much, I've cannot report on the pro's and con's of Syncios. Its certaily worth a try though if you are frustrated with iTunes.

Additional options here....
