Please read through the article, esp. if you have a phone older then iPhone 6. Some reports have mentioned that updating older phones over WiFi have frozen the phone and forced it back to factory reset. Apple claim to have issued a fix on this though. If possible, use iTunes to do your upgrade; and if you only have access to WiFi, choose to download the firmware first, and then do the phone upgrade pointing it to the pre-downloaded firmware on your hard drive. I have completed my upgrade (using iTunes and pre-downloaded firmware) and all went through smoothly.
