Creating Shortcuts using Shell

Post by Cah »

In Windows 7 it is possible to create new shortcuts to shell objects, eg:

explorer.exe Shell:::{F90C627B-7280-45DB-BC26-CCE7BDD620A4}

But when I do this with Windows 8 it tells me:

--------------------------------------
explorer.exe

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default programs control panel.
---------------------------------------

Is there anyway to make shortcuts to shell objects in Windows 8.1? Thanks.

That one doesn't work for me in Windows 10 either, but others do. For example

explorer.exe shell:::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}

(Opens Control Panel in category view)

or

explorer.exe shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

("Godmode")
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks Hans, GodMode works - trust me to experiment with a shell shortcut that doesn't work!
