PDFs open with Adobe Reader by default

Post by jmt356 »

I have my pdfs set to open with Adobe Acrobat by default. However, when I click them, they open through Adobe Reader. When I right click the pdf and select Open with and then Choose default program, I select “Keep using Adobe Acrobat,” but they continue to open with Adobe Reader. Why is this?

I tried all three solutions listed on that page and none worked. Interestingly, with the third solution, when I would choose Adobe Acrobat as the default program in the Set Associations (file type) dialogue, Adobe Reader would stay selected.
The only other option I know of is to uninstall Adobe Reader. It seems redundant in any case since, to my knowledge, Adobe Acrobat can do anything that Adobe Reader can do, though the former may be a bit more process-intensive.

Yes, Adobe Acrobat also functions as PDF reader.
