If it were my home

Post by DenGar »

Very informative site that compares living conditions in your country to those of other countries:

ER, am I missing something - I can only compare the US to other countries, I can't, for example, compare Switzerland to Canada ...

Click on "country comparison" on the home page. Scroll down to "Choose another country to compare to." Click on the country you want to compare--for example, Switzerland. Then click the box that reads "Compare Switzerland to other countries." Select "Canada" and you'll get this page: http://www.ifitweremyhome.com/compare/CH/CA

Thanks Dennis,

And the results (Drum Roll please!)
If Canada were your home instead of Switzerland you would...

use 95.26% more electricity
have 93.18% more chance of being unemployed
consume 85.17% more oil
have 21.12% more chance of dying in infancy
make 7.91% less money
have 7.53% more babies
spend 12.11% less money on health care
experience 4.75% less of a class divide
be 33.33% less likely to have HIV/AIDS
live 0.32 years longer
So, if I make it through infancy I'd live a couple of months longer, but be unemployed ... :flee:

But presumably the sex change so YOU could have babies (if you weren't already equipped to do so) would cost less?

Uhm, "if you weren't already equipped to do so", a sex change won't help...
Best wishes,
Hans

Maybe I should have said "...make babies...?"

Same problem, unless I have been informed incorrectly.

Gee thanks Sundog.

I hadn't actually thought of changing gender, but even if I did I would be much too old to have babies. Not sure how they do their calculations though as much of Canada's health costs are covered through taxes (although in some provinces there is a small monthly payment). Here everyone has to have private insurance and only the very poor receive government assistance. While our medical care is quite good, it is quite expensive. My Canadian relatives faint when I tell them what I pay ...
