Only 15 days to go!

Post by ChrisGreaves »

I woke up this morning (thousands didn't) and beheld SNOW covering large lumps of metal in the parking lot.
My annual wave of gloom, alarum and despondency is tempered by the knowledge that about two weeks from now the days are going to be getting longer.
I'm going to give it 4 days to check that they really are getting longer, then I'm going to hold a celebratory feast.

Suggestions for a name for the feast are welcome ...

you "could" be wrong from my perspective. I immediately thought of "analemma" with your original posting. This sheds some light on the subject...

Seeing as Winter Solstice is soon upon us, instead of the usual festival names, I thought Analemma
might be appropriate with a far stretch of the imagination--which can be easily accomplished. At first I thought of Analemma's Dilemma haha but I too eagerly anticipate the ever-so-slight lengthening of daylight hours. So it's not a dilemma per se, but cause for partying hearty indeed!~ I recall years when we would all go out into the snow with candles, hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies. The countdown begins~!!~

Winter solstice plus 4.

Hmmmmmmm. I think someone has already named that holiday. It celebrates an event that happened a little more than 2000 years ago, if I'm not mistaken.

Festavus.
Come on, Viking, everyone knows that name is taken. Festivus is celebrated on December 23. I already have my Festivus Pole up... do you? My Grievances are all ready for Airing and I've been pumping iron in preparation for the Feats of Strength. Still looking for a few Festivus Miracles, though.

Paul
