It's been clear blue sky here today so I was hopeful of catching sight of Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) this evening. It's still clear due east as I type but as the sun sets in the west a bank of cloud has appeared low in the western sky, exactly where the comet will be.

Re: typical
Come the 17th the Sun will be the required 12°below the horizon making the comet visible at just under 20° above the horizon. It gets higher every day but it gets dimmer too. Today it has an anti-tail because the Earth passes through the plane of it's orbit, a very rare event. So we might see the tail of the comet sticking up from the horizon, weather permitting!
