Why It Was Almost Impossible to Make the Blue LED
Fairly fascinating discussion of semiconductors from Veritasium, including information about the Subject.

More than "Fairly fascinating", and beyond "fascinating".John Gray wrote: ↑14 Feb 2024, 10:41Fairly fascinating discussion of semiconductors from Veritasium, including information about the Subject.
I had seen this video pop up in YouTube and ignored it.
The documentary provides insight into tenacity, courage, and other human attributes.
As well, simple me had not realised that a blue LED was anything more than an LED shining through blue glass-like material
Thanks John!

A brilliant story! Like Chris, I saw this and didn't watch it. So thanks John.
I remember studying electronics at college and the lecturer explaining how when the electrons passed over the depletion layer in a diode, this was a quantum tunnelling effect and at the limit of his pay grade! We all had out first discussion of quantum physics that day!
