Chaplin’s time traveller

Post by Argus »

Something to ponder over during the weekend; it's been making the rounds the last week or so.

Another case of "if it looks like something we know, it surely must be that". Finding patterns is the number one purpose of the brain, interpreting them is a different matter; then we have to use knowledge, experience and imagination (within certain limits  ).

This was discussed on the radio here last night. One of the participants claimed that it was a hoax, and that the fragment shown in the YouTube clip was created by the Belfast film maker, not by Charley Chaplin. I can't verify that, I don't have that DVD box.

Anyway, even if time travel existed, talking on a mobile phone would be useless - there was no infrastructure for it in 1929...
Best wishes,
Hans

That's exactly what's happening - she's on the phone to her service provider complaining she's got no reception...

It probably is genuine you know. Most likely organised by our Australian Telco, who, as you can see, is keeping up with communications technology, it is therefore quit likely to have had the infrastructure in place at the time in question....
