I've not tried this but...
...nor can I see me trying it any time soon. To me it's a classic case of, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

Aldi obviously think otherwise

Ken: I left the "pigs-in-blankets ice-cream" story to you!

Re: I've not tried this but...
Hi Ken. When you say "trying it", do you mean eating it or making it?
Streetsville (Mississauga) had a Mexican restaurant back in the early 1990s that served deep-fried (battered) ice-cream. I ate it on principle: that anyone who could defy Physics had earned my custom.
Then around 2012 I found a store somewhere in the Terra Cotta township that sold bottles of bacon-flavored soda pop. Ditto.
In both cases I would advise "Go For It". In all cases you can always revert to Chapman's Butterscotch Ripple ice-cream the next day (I speak from experience). You don't have to like deep-fried ice-cream (but I still do) or bacon-flavored soft drinks, but that's not the point!
The point is that you have to be able to brag about it.
And I submit this post as proof.
Cheers, Chris

What a Wuss!
Although I confess that having eaten deep-fried fish-and-chips wrapped in old newspapers, my mind trembles at the thought of pigs-in-blanket ice-cream wrapped in an online news sheet. That would be a tad too messy, even for me.
But not for Graeme. He is "into" messier.

Thank you for so generously giving way to me on this one
I still find it worrying that the York Press seems to be on your daily reading list though. You need to get out more!
Before you retort along the lines of, "So do you since you too seem to send far too much time on that website." Perhaps, but I do live in the area covered by the paper so I feel it is legitimate to use it a my Firefox home page. How sad is that?

Chris,
You were the person that poo-poo'd over Salted Caramel ice cream. You should be apoplectic over Pigs-in-a-Blanket ice cream.
Myself, I hope Aldi's takes this to their stores in the states. I'll give it a try.
Hey! It's BACON! What's not to like?
P.S. - I've also tried Jalapeno Merlot. Just when you think it has gone down smooth, it comes back and BITES!

Well of course!

9c here today, summer has finally arrived.
Only two more sleeps and then the days start getting longer.
As Ron Glum points out, things expand when they are heated, and that's why days in summer are longer

I would point out that a previous story I featured came from York Mix!

Re: I've not tried this but...
I think you'll find that the Pigs-in-Blankets Ice-cream is a local (i.e. UK-only) delicacy. Aldi is keen to emphasise its localness (locality?) and commissions suppliers from the country in which it operates.
[Perhaps look out for prairie-dog-and-prunes ice-cream in the US?!]

A word of caution here: If it's Prairie Dog, then it's probably not prunes!

Perhaps mountain oyster ice cream will be coming to Aldi's stores in Appalachia in the near future.ChrisGreaves wrote: ↑20 Dec 2023, 12:08A word of caution here: If it's Prairie Dog, then it's probably not prunes!
